So, it's been a long time since I last posted anything. Sometimes the longer things go the harder it is to pick back up because you aren't sure if you should go back and talk about everything that's happened (which can get really overwhelming) or just skip it all and start over. I don't want to miss anything but I also don't want to bore anyone with a super long post. So here it is in a nutshell with accompanying pictures.
1. Lance started winter semester. He has decided to get a business minor and therefore will be graduating in December rather than April, which we figured was a good idea since construction is still suffering right now. The NAHB competition was in January and BYU took third place out of 40 schools. Lance did awesome and we are glad it's over!
2.Heather and Andy got to be spoiled by Grandma and Grampa Fife while Lance was in Florida for the competition. Mom/Grandma bought him this hat.I also started work again, which explains why nothing has been posted in so long. I've decided being a working mother is really no fun, but unfortunately it is a necessary evil at this time. Fortunately I will be able to go part time in one more week. We are also extremely grateful to Lance's mom, who watches Andy for us when I'm at work so we can avoid the whole daycare/RSV thing.
3. Andy is still the cutest baby in the world! He is almost 4 months old and has had teeth since January (!!). Many thanks to my dear sister Missy, who taught me to appreciate baby drool because ever since those teeth came in at three months, he's been full of it. Andy also smiles, giggles, is starting to roll over and grab toys and loves to put anything he does grab into his mouth. It is so fun to see him learn and grow. We love our little boy!
Hey Heather,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the up-date. It was fun to read.
That's exciting about Lance changing career directions. I did that last minute too. I decided that there really aren't very many German teaching jobs and the economy is bad (schools are sadly cutting foreign languages, music, arts, etc. out of their programs/budgets).
I figured if I switched to German Literature, I could graduate a whole year early and start right away on a Master's program in Library Science. My plan was to be a lonely library like the fate of Mary if George Bailey never existed (from the movie It's a Wonderful Life)
Well then I met Rainer, got married and moved to Germany instead of doing the Master's program.
Now I'll probably get more education or look for a job teaching English here in Germany.
I remember on the mission how you said you could never marry someone in construction ;) Guess you'll have a business man instead ;) There's a saying that says, "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans." I'm sure Heavenly Father has better plans in mind for your family - way more amazing then anything you could ever dream of.
Fun to see your cute little Andy boy growing up. That must be a challenge to have to work part time. I know my mom had to work part time when we were little and it broke her heart. She wanted to spend more time with us but had no choice -she had to work to make ends meet.
I recently watched Masterpiece Theater's Pollyanna. I loved it (it's now one of my favorite movies) Anyways, Pollyanna plays the 'glad game' and tries to find something to be glad about even in difficult situations.
I guess you could be glad that you don't have to work full time and that you have a good education in a career that is always needed.
(Rainer and I have been unemployed for 6 months. Being unemployed has its challenges. Life is daily struggle financially. I finally broke down and started cleaning a sister's house for a little extra money and am currently looking for any sort of job - washing dishes, cleaning hotel rooms, etc. But I can be glad that I have had such a long honeymoon. Living in the Alps is like being on vacation. Sometimes I even feel like we are a retired couple going on daily walks outside, reading together, going on errands together, etc.)
Liebe Grüße
Hey it was fun talking to you. I had to get back on your blog though to see what you wrote. Adorable baby, and you sure lost weight fast! Everyone seems to be looking good! Also, I hear you on the catching up dilemma. I guess some things people will never know.
ReplyDeleteFinally you put something on this blog. I have been checking this blog a several times as hoping to see picture of Andy. :) You all looked great! So are you going home this summer? Missy and I are thinking to go home this summer.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting those cute pictures. I cannot believe how much Andy has grown in a few months!
Two teeth?!? Wesley has been teething for quite some time now but no teeth.
ReplyDeleteAndy is adorable! He has gotten so big. Thanks for the update.
That kid sure is cute. I'm glad you finally got some new stuff up on your blog.
ReplyDeleteBTW, does anyone else think Andy has a very Grandpa expression in that last photo? I don't know, just something about it.
